Luca Mezzalira

Short biography:

Luca Mezzalira is a software architect and educator who helps engineering teams make better architectural decisions in the age of AI.

He is the author of Building Micro-Frontends (O’Reilly) and Front-End Reactive Architectures (Apress). He is also the mind behind the Dear Architects newsletter.

With more than 20 years in software architecture, Luca has seen architecture work at every scale. As VP of Architecture at DAZN, he led the adoption of microservices and micro-frontends for a live sports streaming platform operating across multiple countries. As Principal Serverless Specialist Solutions Architect at AWS, he worked with large organisations across EMEA on serverless, distributed systems and architectural challenges spanning many industries.

Today his focus is the intersection of AI engineering, architectural decision-making and the systems and processes that help teams build software that lasts. AI is changing how systems are designed and how teams build them: Luca helps engineers and architects navigate that shift without losing sight of what matters – sound decisions, real context and maintainable software.

Luca has delivered more than 350 talks and workshops at conferences around the world, from Silicon Valley to Japan, for O’Reilly, QCon, AWS, Adobe and Google. What he enjoys most – and what participants find in his workshops – is taking difficult architectural concepts and making them practical, understandable and immediately useful.

Areas of expertise: Software Architecture, AI Engineering, Micro-Frontends, Distributed Systems, Serverless, Architectural Decision-Making, Technical Writing, Content creation, Storytelling.
